Tom Rooney: About the Artist

Tom Rooney grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada where he studied music at the University of Saskatchewan receiving a Bachelor of Music in Performance(voice).  Presently he’s in his sixth season at the Stratford Festival playing Angelo in Measure for Measure and Vladimir in Waiting for Godot. Other Stratford credits include: Wanderlust, Henry V, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, The Winter’s Tale, For the Pleasure of Seeing her Again, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet and All’s Well That Ends Well.  Other theatre credits include: Someone Else (Crows Theatre-Dora Award), Beckett: Feck It! (Canadian Stage/Queen of Puddings), My Mother’s Feet(Munich), Hairspray (N.Y., Toronto), Benevolence, Courageous (Tarragon), I Am My Own Wife (Vancouver Playhouse); Homechild, (Canadian Stage), Hamlet (NAC), Othello (Persephone), Romeo et Juliette(Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan) and Angels in America (ATP).
In the world of film and television Tom spent three seasons as Crown Attorney David Kaye on CBC’s This Is Wonderland (two Gemini nominations), other credits include: The Gilda Radner Story, The Day After Tomorrow, Everest ’82 (CBC miniseries) and Flash of Genius.
