breakout role as Detective Michael Ledroit in Netflix&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Eric<\/span>, for which he was nominated for a 2025 BAFTA TV Award in Supporting Actor. \u00a0 He also starred in the Netflix limited series <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Zero Day<\/span> opposite Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons,<sup> <\/sup>as Samuel Diggs in the PBS television series <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mercy Street<\/span>, Anthony Carter in the Fox genre drama <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Passage<\/span>, and as Agent Trevor Evans in Netflix crime thriller <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ozark<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belcher appeared\u00a0Off-Broadway\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Romeo and Juliet<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0Classic Stage Company\u00a0in 2013. In 2016 he won a\u00a0Drama Desk Award\u00a0for his performance as amateur boxer Fish in the ensemble of Marco Ramirez&#8217;s\u00a0<em>The Royale<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0Lincoln Center, directed by\u00a0Rachel Chavkin. He also appeared as Sam in\u00a0Darko Tresnjak&#8217;s 2015 world premiere production of\u00a0<em>Rear Window<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0Hartford Stage, alongside\u00a0Kevin Bacon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belcher played the dual roles of Teddy and Nicholas in the world premiere of\u00a0Ken Urban&#8217;s\u00a0<em>A Guide for the Homesick<\/em>\u00a0at the\u00a0Huntington Theatre Company\u00a0in 2017, winning both an\u00a0Elliot Norton Award\u00a0for Outstanding Actor and an\u00a0IRNE Award\u00a0for Best Actor. In 2019 Belcher played Rashad in\u00a0MCC&#8217;s off-Broadway production of\u00a0<em>The Light<\/em>, for which he was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, Belcher made his Broadway debut as Private Louis Henson (a role originated by\u00a0Samuel L. Jackson\u00a0off-Broadway) in the Broadway premiere of\u00a0<em>A Soldier&#8217;s Play<\/em>\u00a0at the\u00a0Roundabout Theatre Company.\u00a0He made history as Happy Loman in the 2022-2023 Broadway production of\u00a0<em>Death of a Salesman<\/em>, featuring the first African-American Loman family on Broadway alongside\u00a0Wendell Pierce,\u00a0Sharon D. Clarke,\u00a0Khris Davis\u00a0and\u00a0Andr\u00e9 De Shields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belcher made his film debut in John Sayles&#8217; 2013 independent film\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Go for Sisters<\/span>, playing\u00a0Lisa Gay Hamilton&#8217;s son Rodney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2015 he appeared in\u00a0David Simon&#8217;s HBO mini-series\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Show Me a Hero<\/span>\u00a0as\u00a0LaTanya Richardson Jackson&#8217;s son Dwayne Meeks, directed by\u00a0Paul Haggis. Belcher had his first experience as a series regular as Samuel Diggs in two seasons of\u00a0PBS&#8217;s\u00a0Ridley Scott-produced Civil War drama\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mercy Street<\/span>. His character, Samuel, is a free man who works as a laborer, but harbors secret knowledge and ability in medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018 he was cast as Anthony Carter in\u00a0Fox&#8217;s drama\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Passage<\/span>, based on\u00a0Justin Cronin&#8217;s novel by the same name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belcher worked with\u00a0David Simon\u00a0again, in\u00a0HBO&#8217;s 2022 limited series\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">We Own This City<\/span>, playing real-life BPD veteran and Gun Trace Task Force officer Momodu Gondo.
