Blake Hackler<\/strong><\/a> is an actor, writer, and teacher. As an actor, Blake has appeared in productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theatres throughout the country as well as in TV and film. As a teacher, Blake has held faculty positions at Yale University<\/a>, Roosevelt University<\/a>, AMDA<\/a>, and the National Theatre Workshop for the Handicapped<\/a>. Currently, he is on faculty at Southern Methodist University<\/a> and is the co-director of the Yale University\u2019s Summer conservatory. He holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama<\/a>. His musical The Boss in the Satin Kimono<\/em> premiered at the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival<\/a> to great acclaim and some vilification. Other New York productions of his work include: The Lady in Red<\/em> \u2013 EndTime Productions, Mother Courage of Westchester, Mariposa <\/em>\u2013 NYTE, Barry Horowitz: A Jewish Fantasia on Catholic Themes<\/em> and The Wasp Woman<\/em> \u2013 a musical written with Phillip Chernyak. He is a member of the esteemed BMI\/Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Program<\/a>, is the recipient of the Harrington Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre Writing as well as a Dramatist Guild<\/a> Intensive grant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
