Susan Heyward: About the Artist

Susan Heyward is a classically trained actress. She has studied at various schools including Freedom Theater and Moscow School of Dramatic Art , receiving her BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University. Most recognized for her role as Tamika Ward on the final two seasons on ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, she has appeared on other notable television programs such as HBO’s seventies rock ‘n roll drama VINYL, Playstation’s first original series POWERS and was most recently seen opposite Edie Falco in the new CBS drama TOMMY. She has also appeared in various national commercial campaigns. Her stage work includes contemporary plays such as Alan Aykburn’s MY WONDERFUL DAY and Lynne Nottage’s RUINED;  classics, like Ibsen’s MASTER BUILDER; and several Shakespeare plays including Juliet in ROMEO AND JULIET and Ophelia in HAMLET. She was last seen on stage as Rose Granger-Weasley in the original Broadway cast of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD. Her latest film work can be seen on Netflix’s THE INCREDIBLE JESSICA JAMES. Ms. Heyward is a proud member of Actor’s Equity and SAG-AFTRA.
