Apemantus
220.  This is in thee a Nature but infected,
221.   A poore vnmanly Melancholly sprung
222.  From change of future. Why this Spade? this place?
223.  This Slaue-like Habit, and these lookes of Care?
224.  Thy Flatterers yet weare Silke, drinke Wine, lye soft,
225.  Hugge their diseas’d Perfumes, and haue forgot
226.  That euer Timon was. Shame not these Woods,
227.  By putting on the cunning of a Carper.
228.  Be thou a Flatterer now, and seeke to thriue
229.  By that which ha’s vndone thee; hindge thy knee,
230.  And let his very breath whom thou’lt obserue
231.  Blow off thy Cap: praise his most vicious straine,
232.  And call it excellent: thou wast told thus:
233.  Thou gau’st thine eares (like Tapsters, that bad welcom)
234.  To Knaues, and all approachers: ‘Tis most iust
235.  That thou turne Rascall, had’st thou wealth againe,
236.  Rascals should haue’t. Do not assume my likenesse.
Timon
237.  Were I like thee, I’de throw away my selfe.
Apemantus
238.  Thou hast cast away thy selfe, being like thy self
239.  A Madman so long, now a Foole: what think’st
240.  That the bleake ayre, thy boysterous Chamberlaine
241.  Will put thy shirt on warme? Will these moyst Trees,
242.  That haue out-liu’d the Eagle, page thy heeles
243.  And skip when thou point’st out? Will the cold brooke
244.  Candied with Ice, Cawdle thy Morning taste
245.  To cure thy o’re-nights surfet? Call the Creatures,
246.  Whose naked Natures liue in all the spight
247.  Of wrekefull Heauen, whose bare vnhoused Trunkes,
248.  To the conflicting Elements expos’d
249.  Answer meere Nature: bid them flatter thee.
250.  O thou shalt finde.
