David Carl: About the Artist

David Carl is a New York-based actor/comedian who is originally from Dallas, TX.  After completing his BFA in Acting at the University of Evansville, and his MFA in Acting at Rutgers he moved to New York.  Since then he has appeared on Guiding Light, All My Children, commercials and has recorded dozens of voiceovers.

On stage David has performed in several theatrical productions with Slant and Project Y all over New York City.  You also may recognize him from interactive shows such as Awesome 80s Prom and Point Break Live! He has played Gary Busey in Point Break Live! since 2014 all over New York, the Midwest and the East Coast.  He performs improv several nights a week at the People’s Improv Theater where he is also an instructor.  Since 2006 David has performed improv, stand-up, character pieces, or sketch in nearly every dark room with lights in New York City from Youth Hostels to the Bell House to Carolines.

Since 2012 David has created 5 original works: The Power of Me with Samuel Brett Williams, Gary Busey’s One-Man Hamlet as Performed by David Carl co-created with Michole Biancosino, 100 Impressions in 30 minutes, David and Katie Get Re-Married  with Katie Hartman, and Road to the White House. Gary Busey Hamlet originated at SOLOCOM at the PIT, and then was chosen for an extended run at Fringe NYC 2014 after receiving an award for “Overall Excellence in Solo Performance”.  Since then he has taken this piece that he created with his director Michole Biancosino to Edinburgh Fringe 2015 at Underbelly’s Cowgate with producers Peter Michael Marino and Richard Jordan Productions.  They have also gone to Florida, Colorado and this summer will be a part of Shakespeare 400 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
