Kevin Asselin: About the Artist

Kevin Asselin is currently the Executive Artistic Director of Montana Shakespeare where he provides both financial and artistic oversight of all programing.  Prior to assuming his current position, Kevin worked with Shakespeare in the Parks for 13 seasons as an actor, fight director, director and educator.  With MSIP he has directed productions of As You Like It, The Taming of the Shrew, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Man of La Mancha and The Robben Island Bible among others.  A proud member of Actors Equity his Chicago acting credits include several productions with the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Writers Theater, the Goodman Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre, Defiant Theatre, Famous Door, Shakespeare on the Green, The Chicago Symphony among others.  Regional credits include 10 seasons with the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Parks, Illinois Repertory Theater, Papermill Theater, Plymouth Repertory, Struthers Library and others.   Asselin is a two time Joseph Jefferson nominated fight director and has staged fights for over 40 different theatres.  He has been a Resident Fight Director with The American Players Theatre, The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, Theatre OCU-at Oklahoma City University and holds actor combatant certifications with the Fight Directors of Canada and the Society of American Fight Directors.  Additionally Kevin was an Associate Professor of Movement and Acting at Oklahoma City University and has taught or worked as a Guest Artist with the Plymouth State University, Ball State, Kenyon College, University of Notre Dame, University of Illinois, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, American Players Theatre, and Interlochen Academy.  He holds an MFA in Acting from the Unviversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Music and Theatre from Plymouth State University.
